Manmaid is an independent service provider that works alongside service users in the ACT.

For a decade we have matched individuals of all ages and abilities with likeminded support workers with the aim of assisting a whole range of great individuals to live their best lives.

Ongoing Support

We know just how lucky we are that the majority of Manmaid service users have been supported by us for a number of years.

The relationships that we’ve been able to build with service users, families, coordinators, plan managers and health care professionals have assisted us greatly in providing a high standard of person centred support.

Connection and Relationships

We endeavour to match service users and support workers with similar interests, and always attempt to employ people with great personalities and bags of common sense.

Not everyone clicks obviously, and we make no insistence that people work together when they meet. There is no point working together if the chemistry isn’t there.

Build Skills and have fun

The one thing we want for everyone involved with Manmaid is to enjoy spending time together.

Looking forward to that part of the week when a service user and support worker get to hang out, learn a skill, get creative, spend time in the community or just have a good chat, is a great feeling.

With Manmaid, you get what you see.
We’re 100% transparent because there is no point being anything else.

If we can’t help you, we’ll tell you. We won’t send strangers to your door, expecting you to work with people you’ve never met. We won’t employ people that would rather spend the shift looking at their phone than talking to you. We won’t tell you we can do a shift when we can’t.

Yes, we get sick, and sometimes we can’t cover those shifts, but that aside, Manmaid can guarantee that continuity and a superior standard of support is what you will receive as a Manmaid service user.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Manmaid Care an NDIS service provider?

Manmaid is not currently an NDIS service provider, though we do adhere to NDIS guidelines, price capping, and only work with NDIS registered coordinators, plan managers and self-managing service users.

Will I work with the same support worker each week?

Manmaid ensure that service users only work with support workers following a meet and greet and, where possible, a buddy shift. After these, the service user and support worker will then decide whether they wish to work together.

Once the shifts are agreed upon, the same support worker will carry out the shifts unless on holiday or sick. Upon request, a second support worker from the team can be introduced to cover the shifts.

Are you a cleaning company?

Manmaid is not a cleaning company. We support service users to build skills in this area. Manmaid support workers are happy to work alongside service users to clean their home. Our ethos in this area is ‘we do WITH, not FOR.

Do only men work for Manmaid Care?

Not at all. We have plenty of male AND female support workers on the Manmaid team.

Do I have to use all of my plan hours with Manmaid Care?

Definitely not! It’s entirely up to the service user and their coordinator how long and how many shifts Manmaid support workers do with a service user. Service users are free to work with whoever they wish.

What if I am not happy with something?

Let us know straight away!

If we can fix it, we will, and if not, you can change support worker or cancel supports straight away with no notice period. For anything more serious, you will have all of the information on which NDIS departments you can contact in your yearly service agreement.

Do I have to pay anything for the support worker if we go out?

The only things that you would be asked to pay for would be admissions into things like the cinema. If you have a companion card however, most places allow the support worker free entry when they are with you.

How are travel km's charged?

Service users only pay for KMs whilst they are in the vehicle, or if the support worker has been sent on an errand for them. Service users are not charged for support workers’ travel time or KMs to or from the shift.

Will I be given information about a service user before I work with them?

Yes. We always compile as much information as we can, from the service user, family members, the coordinators, and any health care professional, into a care plan. Support workers are shown this prior to meet and greets taking place. We have also provided support worker resumes to service users from time to time.

How many service users will I have to support at once?

Manmaid Care provides one to one support to service users. Support workers may be asked to support service users at various groups and classes, but they will still be providing one to one support.
